About Dr. Akshay Verma

Dr. Akshay Verma is a certified mediator who joined as an Assistant Professor of Law at NLU Odisha in July 2023. Prior to it, he was associated with NLUO in various capacities like Assistant Professor of Law (Contractual), Research Associate-cum-Teaching Assistant and Guest Faculty. He completed his Ph.D. in 2023, from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. His research work examines the successes and pitfalls of the current arbitration system in India and explores the possibility of introducing a hybrid-arbitration mechanism for effective dispute resolution. Before joining NLUO, Dr. Verma also worked as a Guest Faculty in Law Centre-2, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi from September 2018 to April 2021. He has held various positions of responsibility such as being a member in the Admission Grievance Committee of Delhi University and has also organised Moot Court Competitions and Faculty Development Programme in Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He is the founding member of NLUO Mediation Cell which is India’s first institutional-run mediation cell. Further, he is also the Project Associate Coordinator of Project KUTUMB, NLUO which has the primary objective of betterment of village children vis-à-vis education, health and well-being.
