ABOUT US
The Centre for Competition Law and Policy (CCLP) is a specialized research Centre at the National Law University Odisha established in 2019 with the objective of furthering research and awareness in the field of competition law.
VISION AND MISSION
Vision:
The Vision of Centre is to create a Centre for Excellence for discussion and research in Competition Law and Policy. Centre seeks to contribute to the growing academic discourse in the area of Competition Law and Policy by bringing out research reports and publications.
Mission:
To bridge the knowledge gap by familiarizing students with the cardinal principles of competition law and encourage academic writings in the field of competition law by academicians, professionals and students.
Objectives of the Centre:
To provide for a platform for discussions and deliberations by academicians, professionals, regulators, economists, judges and students to develop a critical understanding about the working of competition law in India.
To collaborate with other institutions (academic, research and professional bodies) to generate combined research outputs.

Activities:
2022: Hosted the Regional Level Competition Advocacy Programme for the Eastern Region in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India on 11th June, 2022 as part of the Ministry of Corporate Affair’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) in hybrid mode. The key resource persons for the programme were Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Registrar, National Law University Odisha and Mr. Nilotpal Bal, Joint Director General, Competition Commission of India.
2021: Conducted a guest lecture on ‘Virtual Competition through the lens of an algorithm driven market’ on 1st August, 2021. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Nidhi Singh, Empanelled Counsel, Delhi High Court, and Practitioner, Supreme Court of India. The lecture provided the attendees with deep insight into the effects of algorithms and data crunching on the nature of market competition and the consumers.
2020: Successfully organized an insightful one-day Competition Advocacy Workshop in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on 22nd February, 2020. The workshop was conducted by the Deputy Director (Financial Affairs) of the CCI, Ms. Jyotsna Yadav, who deliberated on various nuances of the Competition Act, 2002.
