Who Are We

The Centre for International Trade Law is a research centre of National Law University Odisha established in 2015. The Centre is geared primarily towards research. The Centre strives to produce high quality and cutting-edge research in the field of International Trade Law and International Investment Law.

Vision and Mission

The Centre has the following objectives:

  1. To undertake research work in the field of international trade law and International Investment Law.
  2. To promote understanding of International Trade Law and International Investment Law among the students and academicians in India.
  3. To foster exchange of ideas and views between the Indian and foreign academics and students on issues relating to international trade law and international investment law.

What We Do:

  • The Centre aims at contributing to strengthening the International Trade Law and International Investment Law discourse.
  • The Centre conducts research on International Trade Law and International Investment Law
  • Brings out publications to expand awareness and understanding on WTO issues.
  • Generate debates and dialogue between students, academics and policy maker through seminars

Publications

2019- The Centre has published a book “Trade Facilitation and the WTO” edited by Prof. Sheela Rai and Prof. Jane Winn by Cambridge Scholars Press.

2021- The Centre has published the first volume of “Guide to WTO Appellate Body Reports” by Satyam Law International.

 

Upcoming Publications

  • Volumes 1 and 2 of the Guide to WTO Appellate Body Reports cover 70 of the 144 cases decided by the Appellate Body. The Centre is in the process of publishing edited versions of the remaining cases.
  • The Centre is in the process of publishing a book on “Fisheries Conservation and Trade in Fisheries: Towards Sustainable Use.” Publication is expected in 2022.
